Rain and Funk

Hard to explain but I’ve been in a funk all weekend.  Don’t know why, but I seem to be pondering my life as a whole.  It’s taken over and put me in an obvious bad mood.  I’ve even tried to ignore my funk with crossword puzzles and Sudoku.  Then in the middle of me sulking for no apparent reason I catch Cameron staring out the window at the rain.

Me: Just go outside in the rain and play and get wet.
Her: Really?
Me: Sure. (seeing the joy of a child playing carelessly in the rain will make me snap out of it, right?)

I can sense Brian cringing at the thought – thinking it’s cold and wet out there.  Brian acts as if we all shrivel up when the sun goes down, when it gets cold, when it rains, or if there is dirt around. She can come inside, take her clothes off and be right where she started. For those who have ever stopped by our house know my kids think clothes are overrated.

Man, she was off.  Nothing says readiness for the rain like rain boots, a rain coat and capris.  She ran out on the grass and decided it was much to far away from home and came running back.

Not yet sure if she wants to get her face wet (the reason it took so long for her to swim – dog paddling with your face 100% parallel to the sky tends to make your legs sink down which hinders actual swimming).  If you need that visual, I can post one.
Okay, looking up at some big drops from the drain, but sheltered under the porch.
Maybe if I just bend over, only my hair can get wet – leaving my face nice and dry.

Oh yeah.  This is fun.

That’s enough.  It wasn’t as fun as it seemed in our heads.
And where was Taylor during all these good times?  Inside naked.  Literally.  Decided to drink syrup from her plate of waffles (that Brian made for us all) not realizing that the plate is wider than her mouth and it got all over her jammies, my chair and the floor and decided to just be naked. Everybody knows you can’t go out in the rain naked.
